Larnaca Airport arrivals road reopens after nearly three years following security closure
The road to Larnaca Airport’s arrivals area reopened on Friday afternoon, August 7, at 3pm, ending a 34-month closure that began in October 2023 due to security concerns after the Hamas attack on Israel. The reopening is expected to alleviate long-standing traffic congestion and improve access for drivers and passengers.
This development followed a recent initiative by Justice and Public Order Minister Costas Fytiris and was made possible through coordination between police, the Department of Public Works, and Hermes Airports. While private vehicles can now use the arrivals road for passenger pick-ups, taxis are restricted to designated areas near the terminal’s bus zones, with drop-offs directed to the departures area.
Authorities have urged all drivers to adhere to road signage and police instructions to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow. Police officers will be present to manage traffic and conduct checks to enforce compliance with the new arrangements, emphasizing that cooperation is essential for efficient airport operations.
