New Environment Commissioner prioritizes Akamas forest park project and regional environmental issues

Newly appointed Environment Commissioner Elias Myrianthos met with Akamas mayor Marinos Lambrou to discuss pressing environmental issues, including the long-stalled Akamas National Forest Park project. Myrianthos, originally from Paphos, emphasized his personal commitment to addressing local environmental challenges while ensuring other provinces also receive attention.

Myrianthos plans to visit various communities, municipalities, social organizations, and NGOs to better understand ongoing environmental concerns and contribute solutions where possible. He highlighted environmental protection, sustainable development, and animal welfare as his key priorities.

Mayor Lambrou stressed the municipality's main concern is the nearly two-year delay in launching the Akamas National Forest Park project. Citing ministry studies, he urged immediate commencement of work to meet environmental and local expectations, indicating strong municipal support for the project’s swift implementation.
