CSTI launches ‘Beachfluencer’ campaign to promote clean beaches through social media
The Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative (CSTI) has launched a new campaign called ‘Beachfluencer’ aimed at encouraging residents and tourists to keep Cyprus’ beaches clean by sharing their efforts on social media. The initiative invites everyone, regardless of their follower count, to pick up litter such as plastic bottles, cigarette butts, and food wrappers before leaving the beach. Participants are encouraged to post photos of their clean-up activities using the @beachfluencer tag and the hashtag #beachfluencer.
Philippos Drousiotis, CSTI chairman, emphasized that protecting the beaches is about preserving Cyprus’ natural heritage and supporting the tourism industry. He stressed that collective small actions can create significant results and highlighted the threat plastic pollution poses to marine life and the island’s natural beauty. CSTI promotes sustainable tourism as an inclusive and practical approach, urging both locals and visitors to contribute to preserving the environment for future generations.
