Police conduct extensive checks across Cyprus, arrest 9 for various offenses

During a series of organized patrols conducted across urban areas in Cyprus overnight, the police carried out extensive inspections targeting serious criminal activities and public order maintenance. A total of 450 vehicles were stopped, and 620 individuals were checked, resulting in the arrest of nine people for offenses including illegal drug possession, unlawful stay in the Republic, and traffic violations.

The police also performed 174 alcohol tests, yielding nine violations, alongside six preliminary drug tests with five positive results. Traffic inspections led to 308 citations for various violations, notably 88 for speeding, with 10 vehicles impounded as part of these actions.

In addition, 51 premises were inspected to combat illegal activities, although no violations were reported. These policing operations continue daily with an intensified presence and targeted controls aimed at increasing public safety and maintaining order throughout Cyprus.
