Police arrest 10 individuals and issue over 100 speeding fines during nationwide patrols
The Cyprus police conducted extensive organized patrols across urban areas nationwide last night to prevent serious crimes, ensure public order, and enhance community safety. As a result, ten individuals were arrested for various offenses including illegal possession of drugs and unauthorized stay in the Republic. During the night, 525 vehicles were stopped for inspection and a total of 681 individuals were checked.
Additionally, 45 inspections were carried out at premises to curb criminal activities, leading to three citations. Traffic enforcement resulted in 293 violations reported, including 106 for speeding, with 13 vehicles impounded. Alcohol testing was conducted on 165 drivers, resulting in eight offenses detected, alongside one positive drug test from five preliminary narcotics screenings.
The police have emphasized the continuation of daily intensified operations and targeted checks to maintain public safety and public order throughout the island.
