Cyprus Industrial Turnover Index Rises 3.5% in May 2026 Driven by Manufacturing and Materials Recovery

Cyprus' Industrial Turnover Index increased by 3.5% in May 2026, reaching 148 units, according to the Statistical Service (Cystat). For the first five months of the year, the index posted a cumulative rise of 3.4% compared to the same period in 2025, with manufacturing remaining the leading contributor at 151.4 units, up 2.6% annually.

Significant growth within manufacturing was seen in furniture and machinery repair, while wood products and basic metals also showed strong gains. Outside manufacturing, the materials recovery sector surged by 24.5% in May and 18.1% over five months, marking it as the best-performing category. Meanwhile, the local market index rose by 4.3% in May, contrasting with a 1% decline in the export market.

Other sectors such as electricity supply and water treatment also reported steady increases, while categories like electronic products and motor vehicles experienced declines. Overall, the data suggests a strengthening industrial landscape in Cyprus, supported by diverse sector growth amid export challenges.
