Fire near Marathounta in Paphos contained after burning four hectares
A fire that started near the community of Marathounta in the Paphos district on Wednesday afternoon is now under control, with firefighters managing to contain the blaze around its perimeter. The fire has affected an area of approximately four hectares.
Fire Service crews are currently conducting mop-up operations and working to fully delineate the fire's boundary to prevent any further spread. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and will be examined in cooperation with the police once the fire is fully extinguished.
The firefighting response included four staffed fire trucks, supported by additional forces from the Forest Department and volunteer organizations. Four aircraft were also deployed to assist in containing the wildfire.
