During last week's talks in Nicosia, Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman introduced a new condition linked to opening additional crossing points, demanding more access routes be opened than those proposed by Guterres. Turkey also requested progress on confidence-building measures before an international conference could be announced, a demand Guterres rejected.
Guterres plans to convene an international conference to resume negotiations, stressing the conference must result in tangible outcomes.
