Fire damages apartment in Kapparis, neighbour injured attempting to help
A fire broke out on Monday evening at a first-floor apartment in the Kapparis area of Famagusta, causing extensive damage. The blaze started on the balcony before spreading inside after the veranda’s glass shattered. Neighbours tried to extinguish the flames, during which one injured his hand and was treated at Famagusta general hospital.
Firefighters arrived promptly and brought the fire under control within minutes. The apartment’s tenant escaped safely before emergency services arrived. Initial reports suggest the fire may have been caused by cigarette butts extinguished in a flower pot, but the cause remains under investigation.
