Cyprus’ Nissi Beach ranked second best in Europe in 2026 beach index
Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa has been ranked the second best beach in Europe for 2026, according to the European Beach Index compiled by UK travel insurance specialists Quotezone. The beach was placed just behind Mogren Beach in Montenegro, outperforming many well-known European holiday destinations. Factors such as turquoise waters, warm sea and air temperatures, and a lively resort atmosphere contributed to Nissi Beach's high rating.
This accolade comes amid positive signs for Cyprus’ tourism sector, which Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis says is on a stable recovery path despite regional challenges earlier this year. Recent statistics show tourism revenue remains significantly higher than in 2024, with occupancy rates and overnight stays also rising.
The ranking evaluated beaches based on criteria including climate, visitor reviews, accommodation costs, and proximity to airports. Although higher accommodation costs at Nissi Beach placed it second, Cyprus continues to attract international visitors and is expected to see further tourism growth throughout the year.
