President Nikos Christodoulides has declared that lowering electricity prices remains the government’s top priority, emphasizing ongoing efforts to reduce costs despite current high rates. He highlighted recent measures like VAT reductions that have alleviated household burdens but insisted that further price decreases are realistic and attainable. Christodoulides also pointed to progress in expanding renewable energy’s share in Cyprus’ energy mix from 17-18% to 25-26%, noting the need to surpass 50% alongside improvements in energy storage for grid stability.

On social policy, the president announced pension reform efforts aimed at raising low pensions by €250-€300, with plans to expedite parliamentary approval to minimize delays in support for citizens. Addressing the upcoming 2028 presidential election, he refrained from confirming his candidacy, stating his decision will come in 2027 based on government performance. Christodoulides urged parliament to maintain cooperation and not let election politics hinder governance.

He also defended his administration's crisis management, citing improvements after last year’s wildfires and recent drone attacks, and reaffirmed a strong stance against corruption through support of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority. Despite heightened political criticism post-parliamentary elections, the president reaffirmed his commitment to delivering government priorities over campaigning for another term.
