Frederick University and Hangzhou Dianzi University deepen strategic academic partnership

Senior officials from China’s Hangzhou Dianzi University (HDU) visited Frederick University on July 28 to advance their strategic collaboration. The two institutions have already launched a joint undergraduate Computer Science degree to begin this September in China. During the visit, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding that outlines expanded cooperation including research, scholarships, and student and staff exchanges.

HDU, a leading public research university in Hangzhou specializing in technology and innovation, praised the partnership's success in attracting an outstanding student cohort. Frederick University emphasized plans to develop additional joint programs in engineering and graduate education. Representatives from both universities expressed optimism about fostering long-term ties that benefit students, faculty, and the wider academic community.

The delegation also held meetings with Cyprus government officials who welcomed and supported the collaboration as part of the country’s internationalisation and research innovation strategies. This partnership between Frederick University and HDU exemplifies growing academic and technological links between Cyprus and China.
