Police search for man who deliberately started fire in Kornos area
Police are actively searching for a man suspected of deliberately starting a fire in the Kornos area on Sunday afternoon. The incident was witnessed by a female driver who saw the man ignite grass using a firework and then flee the scene in his car. She managed to photograph the suspect’s vehicle before extinguishing the fire with water she had in her car, preventing it from spreading further.
The photographs taken by the witness have been passed on to the police, who are using them to identify and locate the suspect. Fire General Coordinator Nikos Longinos expressed hope that the individual will be arrested soon so authorities can determine the motive behind the fire-starting.
Longinos made these remarks during a visit by a delegation from the Federation of Cypriot American Organisations to Pachna, where financial assistance was provided to purchase protective suits for volunteer firefighters combating fires in the mountainous areas of Limassol.
