14 Arrested Across Cyprus in Nightlong Police Operations Targeting Crime and Traffic Violations
Cyprus police conducted extensive nationwide patrols overnight, resulting in the arrest of 14 individuals for offenses including robbery, assault, drug possession, illegal residency, and attacks on officers. The operations aimed to prevent serious crimes, maintain public order, and enhance the community's sense of security.
During the night, 622 vehicles and 829 passengers were stopped for inspection, alongside 31 property checks targeting criminal activity. Traffic enforcement led to 273 citations, with 105 related to speeding, and 19 traffic offenses under investigation. Eight vehicles were confiscated due to violations.
Additionally, 165 alcohol tests were administered, yielding 12 violations, and preliminary drug screenings identified three positive cases out of four tests conducted. The police vowed ongoing intensified operations to deter crime and protect citizens, ensuring continued public safety across Cyprus.
