Basement fire at Peyia hotel quickly controlled without evacuation

A fire broke out in the basement of a hotel in Peyia, Paphos district, early Wednesday morning, prompting an emergency response from the Fire Service. The blaze started in an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system inside the hotel's server room just after midnight. Staff acted swiftly, attempting to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher, preventing escalation and ensuring no evacuation was necessary.

The Paphos Fire Station dispatched two fire engines and succeeded in bringing the fire under control by 00:45. The fire caused damage to the UPS system, wiring, equipment, and part of the room’s paintwork. Firefighters completed the extinguishing process and ventilated the area to ensure safety.

No injuries were reported, and guests and staff remained safe throughout the incident. Authorities will investigate the cause of the fire in coordination with the relevant agencies to prevent future occurrences.
