Tribute Concert to Alekos Sakellarios and Cultural Events Mark Today's Cyprus Calendar
The cultural calendar in Cyprus today highlights a tribute concert to Alekos Sakellarios in Vouni's open-air theatre, commemorating 35 years since his passing. The musical performance “Archisan ta Organa” features iconic songs by renowned composers like Manos Hadjidakis and Mikis Theodorakis, performed by Dimitris Mesimeris, Marina Verzanli, and an eight-member orchestra. The concert is part of the 2026 Cultural Decentralisation Programme and will also be staged in Paramytha and Korfi in September and October.
Additionally, the Polystypos Cultural Centre hosts a shadow theatre show titled “A Suitcase Called Cyprus,” exploring Cyprus’s traditions through puppetry and live music. The performance includes an experiential workshop and will tour to other locations later this year.
Art enthusiasts can also visit several exhibitions across Cyprus, including works by Christina Siakola, Christodoulos Panayiotou, and a Pancyprian visual arts exhibition. Cinemagoers can catch the new release "The Get Out" starring Russell Crowe at RIO Limassol.
