Six Arrests and Over 500 Traffic Fines Issued During Nationwide Police Operations in Cyprus
Cyprus police conducted extensive operations across urban areas last night, resulting in six arrests related to various offenses including illegal possession of drugs. The coordinated night patrols aimed to prevent serious crimes, ensure public order, and enhance citizens' sense of safety.
During the operations, 655 drivers and 207 passengers were stopped and checked, while 53 premises were inspected leading to four violations reported. Traffic enforcement was a major focus, with 518 traffic violation tickets issued, including 87 for speeding, and 14 vehicles were detained.
Alcohol and drug checks were also conducted, with 75 breath tests resulting in four fines and three investigations for driving under the influence of drugs following preliminary drug tests. Police confirmed that such crime prevention measures will continue daily with heightened presence and targeted actions to protect the community and maintain public order.
