Eylem, who represented a bicommunal peace initiative, declined to provide a statement after a police sergeant contacted her but did not specify any offense or complaint. Following advice from her lawyer, she asserted that there was no legal obligation to comply.
Eylem expressed that the police inquiry appeared to be political pressure in response to her calls for a more active UN role in resolving the Cyprus issue.
