Mother drowns at CTO beach Larnaca as daughters rescued and hospitalized
A tragic drowning occurred on Saturday afternoon at CTO beach in Larnaca, where a mother lost her life while her two daughters, aged 12 and 13, were rescued and taken to Archbishop Makarios III Hospital. The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. as the family, European nationals visiting the beach, encountered rough sea conditions.
Fellow beachgoers noticed the distress of the mother and her two daughters struggling in turbulent waters and pulled them to shore. Despite rescue efforts, the mother could not be saved, and one of the daughters remains in serious condition. The family's third child and their father stayed on shore during the incident.
The drowning took place shortly after lifeguards had finished their shift. Authorities from the Larnaca Police Division are investigating to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
