Cyprus Airports Handle 50,000 Daily Passengers Amid Summer Reopenings and Traffic Easing

Cyprus airports are managing around 50,000 passengers and 325 flights daily during the peak summer season. Larnaca Airport operates approximately 230 flights serving about 36,000 passengers, while Paphos Airport handles 95 flights with 14,000 passengers daily. Authorities have reopened the road leading to Larnaca airport’s arrivals area for private vehicles after months of restricted access, aiming to reduce congestion.

Maria Kouroupi, Hermes Airports’ director of aviation development, noted that allowing brief stops for passenger collection in arrivals is supervised by police to avoid traffic jams. This reopening is a key development in improving passenger flow.

Overall, July 2026 saw over 1.63 million passengers through Larnaca and Paphos airports, with Paphos recording a 7% increase from the previous year. The recovery in passenger traffic continues despite ongoing regional challenges, demonstrating a strong summer travel season in Cyprus.
