Ertan Inaltekin appointed commander of Turkish occupying forces in Cyprus under Erdogan's orders
Lieutenant General Ertan Inaltekin has been appointed as the new commander of the Turkish occupying forces in Cyprus, replacing Lieutenant General Sebahattin Kilic. The appointment was made official through decisions published in the Turkish Official Gazette signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Inaltekin, formerly commander of the 7th Army Corps, now leads the so-called Turkish Peace Force in Cyprus.
Concurrently, Brigadier General Sukru Bilir, previously head of Current Operations at the Turkish General Staff, has taken command of the security forces in the occupied territories, succeeding Brigadier General Ilker Gyorguylu, who has been reassigned to the 28th Mechanized Infantry Division. These personnel changes are part of a broader reshuffle involving 205 generals and admirals across Turkey’s land, naval, and air forces.
