Forest fire in Paphos' Agios Vatzeros contained after burning six hectares
A forest fire that broke out at around 12:30 in a remote area of Agios Vatzeros, Marathounta community, Paphos district, was contained by 13:50, the Fire Service reported. The blaze affected six hectares of low wild vegetation and an agricultural plot with almond trees.
Despite its proximity to a populated area, the fire posed no threat to local residents. Firefighting efforts involved 23 Forestry Department personnel and 16 Fire Service personnel, utilizing multiple firefighting vehicles, bulldozers, and a water tanker.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire as ground crews, supported by aircraft, successfully managed to control and extinguish the blaze.
