22-year-old woman injured after quad bike falls into sea at Cape Greco
A 22-year-old woman sustained a fractured vertebra after the quad bike she was driving fell into the sea at Cape Greco near Ayia Napa on Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 11am when the woman lost control while attempting to park the quad bike in a parking area close to the sea caves. Her 26-year-old passenger and she fell into a nearby ditch, but the quad bike continued, crossing guardrails and plunging into the water.
Emergency services took the woman to Famagusta General Hospital, where she remains under treatment. Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident. Videos circulating on social media captured the moment the quad bike entered the sea.
The sea caves area has been prone to accidents in the past, prompting authorities to install fencing and other safety measures to protect visitors from similar incidents.
