Man dies months after being run over by colleague in Vrysoulles altercation
A 62-year-old man succumbed to injuries sustained after being run over by a colleague during an altercation in Vrysoulles on August 8, 2024. The victim had been treated in the intensive care unit of Nicosia General Hospital before being transferred to a rehabilitation center. The incident left him with severe head trauma, including a skull fracture and brain haemorrhage.
The 48-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the case last November on charges of attempted murder. However, the charges will not be upgraded to murder due to a legal technicality: the victim's death occurred more than one year and one day after the incident, exceeding the time limit required to reclassify the crime.
The victim, who worked alongside the suspect at an egg packaging factory, was survived by his wife and two children. An autopsy is scheduled to confirm the exact cause of death.
