Cyprus economy grows 3.3% in Q2 2026, outpacing eurozone by over three times

Cyprus recorded an annual economic growth of 3.3% in the second quarter of 2026, significantly surpassing the eurozone's 1% growth rate, according to preliminary data released by Cystat. Quarterly growth also accelerated to 0.8%, up from 0.5% in the first quarter, driven primarily by wholesale and retail trade, information and communication, financial services, and construction sectors.

Finance Minister Makis Keravnos attributed the strong performance to prudent fiscal management, financial system stability, and growing investor confidence, while remaining cautious about international uncertainties. President Nikos Christodoulides welcomed the figures, emphasizing the economy's resilience and the government's ongoing reforms aimed at boosting competitiveness and investment.

Both officials credited the contribution of Cypriot businesses and workers to sustaining growth and highlighted efforts to maintain one of the lowest unemployment rates in the EU. The government intends to leverage this positive momentum to enhance fiscal security, job quality, and social support. The statistical service noted the data are preliminary estimates subject to revision.
