Dromolaxia-Meneou mayor urges action on delayed Pervolia seafront path phase two
Kypros Andronikou, mayor of Dromolaxia-Meneou, has called on the Department of Town Planning and Housing to expedite the stalled second phase of the Pervolia seafront path, a project delayed by eight years. The department had initially promised to put the work out to tender by June 2026 but missed the deadline, pushing it back with no fixed date, citing unfinished measurements.
The mayor criticized the delay, emphasizing the importance of the project in upgrading the municipality's seafront, particularly in Pervolia. The 1.3-kilometer-long, six-meter-wide phase two will include a pedestrian and cycle path, recreational spaces, rest areas, toilets with showers, landscaping, and parking for 92 vehicles. This phase follows the completion of phase one in 2017 and redesign triggered by an initial planning error.
Costing over 1.5 million euros, the project aims to enhance connectivity with local roads and improve public amenities. Andronikou stressed that the Department of Town Planning and Housing, as the contracting authority, must act swiftly to prevent further delays and realize the benefits for the community.
