Presidential Retreat in Troodos Opens to Public for Let's Go Troodos Event
The presidential retreat in Troodos will open to the public on Sunday, September 6, for the third edition of the Let's Go Troodos event. Running from 11am to 6pm, the event will showcase local producers, artisans, traditional food, music, and children's activities. The initiative, led by First Lady Philippa Karsera-Christodoulides and co-organised by the deputy tourism ministry and the Press and Information Office, aims to provide public access to emblematic buildings while supporting small businesses.
Proceeds and donations from this year's event will benefit the Agros retirement home, Eleousa. The historic residence, originally a British colonial summer home for governors, has served as the official presidential summer retreat since Cyprus gained independence in 1960. Notable presidents, including Archbishop Makarios III, Glafcos Clerides, and Nicos Anastasiades, have used the mountain retreat.
Free buses will be available between Troodos Square parking areas and the residence throughout the day. Visitors must present an official ID to enter the grounds, ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
