Bounced cheques in Cyprus drop by nearly half in August to €40,799

In August 2024, Cyprus saw a significant decrease in bounced cheques, with 16 cases amounting to €40,799, nearly half the number recorded in the same month last year. July figures were higher, with 36 bounced cheques totaling €60,416. During the first seven months of 2024, a total of 101 bounced cheques were registered, valued at €288,489, compared to 145 cases worth €309,599 over the same period in 2023. The central bank data reveals that these bounced cheques involved 70 individuals, including 48 legal entities and 22 individuals.
