Cyprus to retroactively increase welfare benefits in last quarter of 2026 with automatic payments
The Cyprus deputy welfare ministry announced that welfare benefit increases will be paid retroactively to beneficiaries in the last quarter of 2026 without requiring any action from them. This adjustment follows the July 2 cabinet decision and legislation aimed at enhancing social inclusion and independent living for individuals with disabilities, as well as improvements to the minimum guaranteed income and general social benefits.
Beneficiaries will receive a 10 percent increase, with individuals under 18 years receiving an additional €87 (total €455), and those aged 18 to 65 or over 65 receiving an extra €37 (total €405). Additional increments include a 10 percent increase to home care allowances and a transport benefit adjusted to a total of €100. Payments will be made directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts, with increases shown as separate disbursements.
The ministry urged beneficiaries to update their bank and contact details to avoid delays. For further information, the public can call the 1450 helpline during weekdays or visit the welfare service website. These automatic payments aim to reduce administrative burdens and improve convenience for recipients.
