Police Conduct Nationwide Night Patrols in Cyprus Leading to 10 Arrests
The Cyprus Police carried out intensified patrols across the island during the night, focusing on key urban areas to prevent serious crimes and maintain public order. As a result of these operations, ten individuals were arrested for offenses including illegal drug possession, impersonation, intoxication, disturbance, and failure to appear in court.
Authorities stopped and checked 505 vehicles and 646 individuals, while also conducting 45 inspections of commercial premises, resulting in three official complaints. Traffic enforcement yielded 295 citations for various violations, notably 108 for speeding, with eight vehicles impounded. Additionally, 170 alcohol tests produced five citations, although narcotic preliminary tests had no positive results.
The police emphasized that these preventive and enforcement actions will continue daily with enhanced presence and targeted checks to bolster public safety and order throughout Cyprus.
