Larnaca’s Zinonos Kitieos Street Reopens After Pedestrian Upgrade with Final Phase Pending
Larnaca’s bustling Zinonos Kitieos Street has reopened to vehicle traffic following significant pedestrian upgrades, much to the relief of local businesses. The improvements include new trees, flower beds, white benches, and other street furniture aimed at revitalizing the commercial centre. Despite reopening, part of the street will close again after August 24 for the project’s final phase, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras highlighted the focus on greenery and final touches like shade structures while assuring that the redevelopment of Filiou Zannetou Street will finish by late August. The final phase will not impact commercial premises, and vehicle access will remain up to Pallas Square. Although some white floor tiles have shown staining and there has been criticism of the black shade structure poles, the overall transformation has been positively received.
Alongside this, the redevelopment of Alkis and Acropolis squares is nearly complete, with the reopening of Grigori Afxentiou Avenue and Kalogera Street last month. Both projects, valued at over €14 million and co-funded by the THALEIA Programme, aim to bring renewed vibrancy and optimism to Larnaca’s city centre.
