Entries to Northern Cyprus Drop 13.3% in First Half of 2026
The number of people entering Northern Cyprus fell by 13.3% in the first half of 2026, with 1.98 million entries recorded across land, air, and sea compared to 2.28 million in the same period last year. The sharpest decline was at crossing points, where entries dropped 13.7% from 2,121,216 to 1,829,954. Entries from government-controlled areas also fell by 16.5%.
By nationality, arrivals from the UK and Greece decreased significantly by 16.2% and 17.3%, respectively, while entries from Poland and Germany increased by around 5%. Air and sea arrivals dipped 7.7%, with notable decreases from France, Belgium, and Croatia, but Germany saw a 34.1% rise in these modes of entry. The data, compiled from police and tourism department records, covers total crossings and may include multiple entries by the same individuals.
