Cyprus, Greece and Jordan renew trilateral defence cooperation to enhance regional security
Cyprus, Greece, and Jordan have renewed their trilateral defence cooperation programme, aiming to strengthen coordination and joint security efforts amid ongoing regional tensions. The agreement, announced on Monday, continues and expands collaboration between the armed forces of the three countries within the existing framework.
Established in 2018, the trilateral initiative covers defence, energy, civil protection, economic ties, and regional security. The renewal follows the fifth trilateral summit held in Amman in May, where leaders emphasized the need for closer cooperation in response to shared challenges such as security, migration, and energy.
Leaders highlighted the partnership's strategic importance as a bridge between the European Union and the Middle East, addressing concerns linked to Iran, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq. The renewed programme is expected to deepen relations and enhance joint efforts for stability in the region.
