Yellow warning issued as temperatures hit 40C inland on Tuesday in Cyprus
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for extreme heat as temperatures are expected to reach around 40C in inland areas on Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm. The weather will start mainly fine with light and variable winds but cloud cover will increase around midday, bringing isolated rain mainly over the mountains. Winds along the southern and southwestern coasts may strengthen to moderate levels by afternoon.
Temperatures along the coasts are forecast to reach 31C to 35C, while higher mountainous areas will see highs near 30C. Nighttime temperatures will remain warm, dropping to around 23C inland and slightly cooler in elevated regions. From Wednesday through Thursday, isolated mountain rain is expected with more unsettled weather, including thunderstorms, likely on Friday. Overall, temperatures will remain high through Thursday before cooling closer to seasonal averages later in the week.
