President Christodoulides announces €50,000 grant for Keravnos Strovolou's 100th anniversary

President Nikos Christodoulides announced a special €50,000 government grant for Keravnos Strovolou, marking the sports club’s centenary since its founding in 1926. The funding aims to support the club's various needs and serve as a symbolic acknowledgment of its century-long contributions to Cypriot sport and society.

Founded before the Republic of Cyprus, Keravnos evolved from football and athletics into a leading basketball club. Christodoulides highlighted the club's role beyond sports, emphasizing its cultural and social solidarity, support for Cyprus' national struggles, and its dedication to sportsmanship and athlete development.

The president also paid tribute to Paris Papaellinas, the club’s president for over 25 years, crediting him and the club leadership for Keravnos’ prominence. Christodoulides reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting the club’s youth programs and sports education as it enters its second century.
