Limassol’s first 36 affordable apartments expected by early summer 2027

The initial 36 apartments of Limassol's affordable housing project are now anticipated to be completed by early summer 2027, following minor delays, Mayor Yiannis Armeftis announced. The units are part of a joint effort between Limassol municipality and the Cyprus Land Development Corporation (Koag) located in the Ayios Nicolaos area. Despite earlier set deadlines for March 2027, progress remains steady with engineering teams working to stay on track.

This first phase involves demolishing existing buildings and relocating residents to make way for the new apartments, which comprise two-bedroom units aimed at low- and middle-income households. Upon completion, construction will begin on three additional six-storey apartment buildings, increasing the total number of affordable apartments to around 136-138.

Looking ahead, plans include a second phase on Lambrou Porfyra street with a focus on sustainability, inclusiveness, and architectural quality in line with the New European Bauhaus principles. The municipality also announced an architectural competition for an additional 400 affordable housing units, reinforcing its commitment alongside Koag to expanding accessible housing options in Limassol.
