Air conditioning installations and electrical checks underway in Limassol schools
The placement of air conditioning units in Limassol schools is accompanied by thorough inspections coordinated with the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC), according to Nikos Agiomamitis, President of the Limassol School Board. All high schools in Limassol city and district now have air conditioning installed and thoroughly checked, while about 50% of gymnasiums have coverage, with installation and electrical upgrades ongoing to complete this by October. The goal is to have air conditioning fully operational in all gymnasiums by early 2027.
The delayed progress is largely due to the age of many school buildings requiring substantial electrical system upgrades, which can be time-consuming. In certain cases, like Tsirion Gymnasium, more complex tasks such as underground power supply installation are necessary. Additionally, some schools like Apeiteio Gymnasium Agrou do not require immediate air conditioning due to local climate conditions.
Mr. Agiomamitis also noted ongoing issuance of electrical installation suitability certificates, with many schools already certified. While air conditioning projects in primary schools will proceed after gymnasium installations, some primary schools already have units installed with assistance from School Boards and Parent Associations.
