CHANNELLED: CYPRUS exhibition showcases diverse women artists’ perspectives on island’s identity
The new exhibition "CHANNELLED: CYPRUS – Women Artists of the Island" opened on September 22, 2026, at Limassol’s XeniArtSpace and runs until February 18, 2027. Featuring nine women artists connected to Cyprus, the exhibition uses painting, sculpture, textiles, and other media to present varied personal histories and artistic interpretations of Cyprus. Rather than a single narrative, it explores themes of memory, identity, nature, and belonging through an intergenerational dialogue.
Xenia Kulbachevskaya, founder of XeniArtSpace, emphasized that each artwork offers a unique voice that reshapes how visitors see Cyprus, underscoring art’s power to renew perspectives on familiar places. Limassol Mayor Yiannis Armeftis praised the gallery’s contribution to Cyprus’ cultural life, noting it has hosted ten exhibitions since its establishment and maintains standards comparable to major museums.
Alongside CHANNELLED: CYPRUS, the gallery is also presenting "PICTORIAL EXCERPTS," showcasing works by Daphne Christoforou and her mother Julia Astreou-Christoforou. This smaller exhibition explores heritage and memory across generations, highlighting distinct artistic languages within one family. XeniArtSpace operates as a private institution based on Kulbachevskaya’s extensive art collection and runs two exhibition spaces in Trilogy Plaza, Limassol.
