Over 5,000 Attend 20th European Researchers’ Night in Nicosia Celebrating STEAM Innovation
More than 5,000 people attended the 2026 European Researchers’ Night in Nicosia, marking 20 years of the event in Cyprus. Held at the Cyprus State Fair, the event brought together researchers, companies, and academics from across the island’s research and innovation sector under the theme "CELEBRATE 2.0 – Two Decades of STEAM-Powered Inspiration." Over 75 exhibition stands and 80 interactive activities allowed visitors to engage with science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
The event also attracted over 2,000 school pupils through organised visits, emphasizing the STEAM approach and promoting curiosity and creativity among younger generations. Highlights included the Science Unfold 2026 competition, where students presented scientific inventions connecting research to daily life, and a special anniversary stand showcasing the event’s growth since 2006.
Organised by the Research and Innovation Foundation and funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe programme, Cyprus’ European Researchers’ Night aims to connect society with scientific research, stressing the role of collaboration in shaping the future. The event concluded with a networking reception linking the public with the innovation community and was held under the auspices of the President of the Republic.
