Bank of Cyprus Launches Direct Indian Rupee Transactions to Boost India Ties
Bank of Cyprus (BoC) has introduced a new service allowing businesses and individuals to conduct transactions directly in Indian Rupees (INR). This move aims to enhance payment links with India and support customers with commercial or financial ties to the Indian market. By enabling payments in INR, the bank simplifies cross-border transactions, reduces reliance on intermediary currencies, and lowers costs.
The new service is tailored for companies operating in India, businesses with partnerships there, and Indian nationals living in Cyprus who send remittances home. It aligns with BoC's broader strategy to expand international payment corridors and strengthen economic connections between Cyprus and India.
Additionally, BoC is seeking approval from the Reserve Bank of India to open a Representative Office in India, further solidifying its presence. This initiative is part of the bank's efforts to grow its global network and reinforce Cyprus's role as a key regional and European business hub.
