Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister to Attend Brussels Talks on EU Maritime Strategy and Decarbonisation
Shipping Deputy Minister Marina Hadjimanolis will travel to Brussels from September 28 to 30 for high-level discussions on the future of European shipping and ports. Key agenda items include competitiveness, geopolitical pressures, fleet renewal, and decarbonisation. Hadjimanolis was invited by European Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas to participate in the Connecting Europe Days 2026, the European Commission’s flagship event for mobility and transport.
During the conference, Hadjimanolis will speak at a plenary session focused on the Industrial Maritime Strategy and EU Ports Strategy, addressing Europe’s maritime value chains, infrastructure, and the sector’s clean and digital transition. The discussions will also emphasize strengthening Europe’s maritime industrial capacity while respecting climate goals and economic security.
The Brussels talks follow Cyprus-led maritime discussions with Greece, Malta, and Italy held earlier in September to enhance cooperation on shipping competitiveness and decarbonisation. Hadjimanolis’ involvement aligns with Cyprus’ commitment to implementing the European Commission’s new maritime policies targeting fleet renewal, alternative fuels, and port modernisation to boost sustainability and resilience across the EU maritime sector.
