British man dies after falling ill while diving in Ayia Napa
A 63-year-old British man tragically died after falling ill during a diving session in the Pernera area of Ayia Napa on Saturday afternoon. The man became unwell at around 3:15 pm while diving and was taken to a floating platform, where first aid was provided by a diving instructor and local lifeguards before he was transported to Famagusta General Hospital. Despite medical efforts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead.
Police in Ayia Napa have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death. This incident comes less than two weeks after another British tourist, Paulo Brockway, 44, died after suffering a cardiac arrest while on holiday in Cyprus. Earlier in August, an 88-year-old British national also died in a vehicle fire near Avgorou.
