Pasykaf marks 40 years supporting cancer patients and families in Cyprus
The Pancyprian Association of Cancer Patients and Friends (Pasykaf) has been supporting cancer patients and their families in Cyprus for four decades, Deputy Social Welfare Minister Tina Pavlou announced on Friday. Highlighting the profound impact of a cancer diagnosis, Pavlou emphasized that the illness affects not only patients but also their loved ones, who often face emotional and practical challenges.
Pasykaf offers specialised psychological and social support services that extend beyond the patient to include family members and caregivers. The deputy minister underscored the importance of state cooperation with organisations like Pasykaf, noting that the government funds the association’s social support service to provide psychosocial care, guidance, and referrals.
Pavlou also mentioned efforts to streamline welfare benefits for cancer patients to avoid additional burdens. Founded in 1986 by individuals affected by cancer, Pasykaf has grown into a vital resource across Cyprus, ensuring that no one faces cancer alone.
