Wizz Air expands Cyprus-Spain connections with new Larnaca-Madrid route
Budget airline Wizz Air has launched a new direct service connecting Larnaca, Cyprus, to Madrid, Spain, marking its first flight to the Spanish capital. Operating three times a week, this route complements the carrier's existing Larnaca-Barcelona connection and aims to enhance tourism, trade, and business travel between the two countries.
The launch was celebrated at Larnaca Airport by operator Hermes Airports, who highlighted the partnership with Wizz Air as vital to expanding the airport's network. Andras Szabo, Wizz Air’s network director, emphasized the strategic importance of linking Cyprus and Spain and the added benefits for passengers in terms of choice and value.
In parallel with the route expansion, Wizz Air is actively seeking Cypriot recruits for its pilot training scheme, offering world-class training through a financing model. An open day for pilot applicants will be held on 27 September in Nicosia, providing an opportunity to learn about the application process and meet airline representatives.
