PSI Foundation Debuts in Nicosia with Urban Video Art Exhibition Outside Traditional Galleries
PSI Foundation is making its first presentation in Nicosia by integrating video art into the city's everyday spaces, rather than traditional exhibition venues. The project, titled "Objects in the Mirror May Be Closer Than They Appear," curated by Evagoria Dapola, features 14 works by nine artists displayed in unexpected locations such as shop windows, artist studios, and café walls across Nicosia's old walled city.
This innovative approach aims to bring art into the rhythm of urban life, allowing passers-by to encounter moving images in a spontaneous manner amidst the city's bustle. The exhibition contrasts with PSI Foundation's Limassol base, where art is presented in a controlled gallery environment, highlighting two different modes of engaging audiences.
PSI Foundation was established in 2024 in Limassol and has been expanding its contemporary art programs, including collaborations with renowned video artist Bill Viola. This Nicosia project marks a new extension of its activities, experimenting with how art interacts with public spaces and new audiences.
