Diko leader Nicholas Papadopoulos questions Finance Minister Keravnos' loyalty, asks if there are 'two governments'

Diko leader Nicholas Papadopoulos intensified criticism of Finance Minister Makis Keravnos on Thursday, suggesting a rift between Keravnos and President Nikos Christodoulides. Addressing Sigma TV, Papadopoulos questioned whether there are "two governments," pointing to Keravnos' alleged insubordination and refusal to implement key government policies.

The dispute stems from Keravnos' skepticism over the Great Sea Interconnector project, supported by the president. Papadopoulos cited multiple instances where the finance minister reportedly resisted government decisions, including pension reform differences with the Labour Minister, non-implementation of agreements on bank employees' provident funds, and reluctance to extend reimbursement schemes for 2013 bail-in victims.

Papadopoulos urged the president to address ministers' conduct and urged Keravnos to either implement government policies or resign. Despite calls from a Diko spokesman for a tripartite meeting to resolve tensions, Papadopoulos rejected the idea, framing the conflict as a broader governance issue rather than a personal dispute.
