Organic farming in Cyprus exceeds 2027 target, now covers 8.6% of cultivated land

Organic farming in Cyprus has surpassed the national target for 2027, currently accounting for 8.6% of the country’s cultivated land, Agriculture Minister Christos Senekis announced. The previous goal was set at 7.5%, signaling a significant positive trend in sustainable agriculture on the island. Approximately 1,500 producers are actively engaged in organic farming, reflecting increased adoption of eco-friendly practices.

Minister Senekis highlighted the recent European Organic Production Day as an important platform to enhance consumer understanding and trust in organic products. To further support the sector, the ministry is allocating €22 million through the Common Agricultural Policy plan for 2023 to 2027. Senekis emphasized that consumer choices will play a crucial role in expanding the market for Cypriot organic products in the coming years.
