Five arrests and nearly 400 traffic fines issued during intensive police operations across Cyprus

The Cyprus Police conducted intensive organized patrols across urban areas nationwide last night, aiming to prevent serious crimes and ensure public order. These preventive operations led to the arrest of five individuals, including for illegal stay in the Republic of Cyprus.

During the night, 587 vehicles were stopped for inspection, with 800 drivers and passengers checked. Additionally, 36 premises were inspected, resulting in one violation report. Traffic enforcement resulted in 393 citations, with 117 for speeding violations. Alcohol testing was conducted 158 times, yielding one positive result, while a preliminary drug test showed no positives. Nine vehicles were also impounded during the operations.

Police stated that such enforcement efforts to prevent and suppress crime will continue daily, with increased presence and targeted checks to protect citizens and maintain public safety.
