Zsófia Törőcsik Defends Women's Overall Title at World Apnea 2026 Depth Championships in Limassol
The final day of the women’s competition at the World Apnea 2026 Depth Championships in Limassol concluded with a dramatic finish, crowning Hungary's Zsófia Törőcsik as the Overall World Champion. Despite an early turn in her deepest dive, Törőcsik’s consistency across four disciplines earned her 374 points, securing her second consecutive overall title. Ukraine's Nataliia Zharkova won the Constant Weight (CWT) World Championship that day with a clean 113-metre dive, while France’s Jade Agboton and Törőcsik took silver and bronze respectively for CWT.
The Championships also saw five new national records set — from Australia, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Lebanon, and Qatar — pending official ratification. The event, held from September 30 to October 9, brought together elite freediving athletes from over 50 countries in the Mediterranean waters of Limassol. This marked the fifth time Cyprus has hosted the AIDA World Championship, reinforcing its significance on the international freediving calendar.
