Cyprus Deputy Minister Nicodemos Damianou attends 3rd Space Symposium in Athens focusing on space innovation and security

Cyprus Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Nicodemos Damianou, is participating in the 3rd Space Symposium held in Athens on October 7 and 8. The event, organized by Hellas Sat as part of World Space Week, focuses on the strategic importance of space in security, technology, and investment opportunities. Discussions at the symposium cover space policy, security, and the growing role of space-based systems in critical infrastructure.

The two-day event brings together governments, businesses, and research institutions to explore developments and innovation within the space ecosystem. The symposium, held under the auspices of Greece’s Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence and the Embassy of Cyprus in Greece, also marks the 25th anniversary of Hellas Sat. Cyprus’s involvement includes participation from the Cyprus Space Office, which is emphasizing digital resilience, secure connectivity, and the significance of terrestrial and satellite infrastructure for essential communications.

Additionally, Hellas Sat announced scholarships for aerospace students, including one specifically awarded to a Cypriot student, in collaboration with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Nicodemos Damianou is expected to return to Cyprus on October 9 following the symposium.
